My job title?
Play Designer
What is your typical "day in the life of a designer"?
Prototyping, testing, meetings, sourcing materials, and in between I eat, relieve and sleep before repeating!
Design principles you live by?
Question assumptions
Understand the core challenge
Clients are great at finding problems but not necessarily solutions
Strive for maximum accessibility.

What problem can't you stop thinking about?
How to undo/reduce toxic behaviors online. It can’t be “solved” but solutions should still be sought after.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
Always consider the challenges of the person you are handing your work over to. Is it easy to understand, explain and reproduce as needed?
When is "Design done wrong"?
Exploitative/predatory design, design for premature failure and unsafe design are broad terms I use to describe categories of “wrong” kinds of design. Unethical micro transactions in video games, faulty cheap electronics and gimmicky tools are where I see these issues most often.
What skill do you wish you picked up really early on?
Learning multiple languages and computer programs. The more “tools” that you have experience and access to, the better.
Design tools you can’t live without? (Physical and/or digital)
Adobe CC
Smartphone
Digital Callipers
Cheap DIY photo studio
Fusion 360/Rhino/Solidworks.
What’s in your bag?
Multitool pliers, charging cables, extra batteries and a little first aid kit.
