I make it easier for people to discover and share music.

Wow, ok! Tell us your title now?

Senior Product Designer at SoundCloud

What is your typical "day in the life of a designer" ?

Speaking to users, running ideation worskshops, looking at user data, lots of Figma time, working with various teams like data science, engineering, curation, research and marketing. Finally I set up user tests to validate hypotheses.

Design principles you live by?

1. The user is the at the center of the experience always.

2. Fail early, learn quickly

3. Experiment! Experiment! Experiment!

4. Put yourself out there in the field, observing users, the best design isn't done sitting at a computer

5. Empathy and humility are key

What problem can't you stop thinking about?

Education & Misinformation. Coming from a country where misinformation (ie. WhatsApp forwards) is dividing the country access to reliable information is vital. Educating developing nations, communicating the benefits of educating themselves and their children is what I would love do.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

Start small, break down the task at hand, you'd enjoy it and simplify the problem. Also, don't be afraid to try things out!

Design tools you can’t live without? (Physical and/or digital)

Figma

And a microphone (to record conversations)

What’s in your bag?

  • Laptop

  • A bunch of devices (I work in Integrations)

  • Some art I made

  • Insurance document

  • USB stick (to DJ at our booth later)

  • And an extra jumper (its cold)

What is the greatest design object, service, product or graphic ever made, in your opinion?

The telegram! It was the first time someone imagined instant communication didn't require you to be in the same physical space

Books you highly recommend for anyone pursuing a career in design?

Make Time - Jake Knapp

Experimentation Works - Stefan H Thomke

Don't make me think - Steve Krug

Sapiens - Yuval Noah Harari

Two Designer friends you admire and we should talk to!

Bjorn Karmann for his ability to come up with wild ideas and build them, never have I met someone able to experiment like this guy!
